Eugene Cypriano
Eugene DeRego Cypriano, 91, of Honokaa died May 23, 2017, at home. Born in Kukuihaele, he was a retired supervisor for the former Hamakua Sugar Co. and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
A graveside urn committal service will be held at noon, June 2 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2. Family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by daughters, Renee (Michael) Farmer, Kathy Cypriano; sons, Keith Cypriano, Aaron Cypriano, Rusty Cummings; sisters, Kathryn (Albert) Braga, Roseline DeRego; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews.

Perpetua Melchor
Perpetua “Pet” Gabriel Melchor, 84, of Papaikou died May 5, 2017, in Hilo. Born June 27, 1932, in Laoag City, Philippines, she worked for the Hilo Quality Cleaners and was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.
Friends may call for visitation from 5-7 p.m. June 2 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo with a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call for visitation from 8-10 a.m. June 3 at the Immaculate Heart Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou with a 10 a.m. Mass. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed. Burial will be at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section.
She is survived by daughters, Emerita Franco of Papaikou, Aida (Junior) Franco of Hilo and Leonie (Fred) Hirokane of Kona; son, Alan (Pamela) Melchor of Hilo; caregiver, Imelda (Edwin) Pacris of Hilo; brothers, Andy (Cecil) Gabriel of Washington, Terry (Claire) Gabriel of Papaikou, Colonel Bernard (Debbie) Gabriel of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Herbert Tolentino
Herbert Tolentino, 85, of Honokaa died May 18, 2017, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born Sept. 18, 1931, in South Hilo, he was a retired teacher at Honokaa Elementary School, a coach for the Honokaa High School Wrestling Team and Swim Team; and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.
Visitation will be held from 8-10 a.m. June 2 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Honokaa with a 10 a.m. Mass. Private urn burial will be at a later date. Casual attire.
He is survived by sons, Derek (Peggy) Tolentino of Kawaihae, Keith (Kate) Tolentino of Honokaa; daughters, Fe (George Berdon Jr.) Hoota of Kona, Liane (Gerald) Iwata of Hilo; sister, Genny (Bernard) Victorino of Fountain Valley, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
